The dramatic increase in Afghan drug abuse is followed by great social and economic problems for both individual users and society at large. It affects the workforce, increases the number of domestic and traffic accidents, leads to crime, increases the spread of diseases such as AIDS and hepatitis and causes mental disorders and accidental deaths.
